Synopsis
Children love to read the same stories over and over again and here is for once a series that parents won't mind repeatedly revisiting: from journalist Thomas Brunstrøm comes a refreshingly funny series, aimed at both girls and boys, about Sally and her dad, expertly illustrated by Thorbjørn Christoffersen.
This is one of the most popular picture book series in Denmark with sales figures reaching a (for Danish standards) staggering 700.000 copies. Nordisk Film acquired the Film/TV rights and are developing a live-action cinema release due to high demand.
Abroad, the series has so far reached a Polish readership (Wydawnictwo Juka-91) and has reached bestselling status there there with demand for merchandise, e.g. a wall calendar, planned for 2023 release.
Reviews
"Hugely entertaining " – (Information)
"Outspoken, politically incorrect and free from raised fingers and spelt buns" – (Litteratursiden)
"We didn't have any doubts about this series. We knew right away that it would be perfect for the Polish market, though we didn't expect such great success. We have trouble seeing the series as picture books, not because of the amount of text, but the format and the target reader, because it's directed at a double reader: at kids that are a bit older than the usual picture book readers and at their parents (as in the case of Shrek). I'm not sure who has more fun reading these books: parents or children?" – Katarzyna Biegańska (Polish editor at Dwukropek)
