Synopsis
Anthony's parents are really busy, so the regular visits to Grandma are popular with the little boy.
And no wonder: in this first book a boring bath situation is swiftly turned into the most amazing adventure, as Anthony and Grandma travel to the bottom of the sea in order to find Grandma's lost ring. On their way, they are faced with dangerous monsters and stressed-out mermaids and Anthony has to be extra switched on, if he is to succeed and in bringing the ring back.
There's never a dull moment with Grandma around...
Personal note from the author
A celebration of grandparents
I think the Grandma-character is a kind of condensation of mine and Thorbjørn’s grandmothers. When I was a boy, I was often on holiday at my grandparents’ places and it was a different experience in each place. However, they had one thing in common: there was always an incredibly liberal sugar policy, no specific rules about bedtimes, a steady stream of favourite dishes and, not least, all the time in the world.
No one had to go to work or sort out all sorts of domestic chores when I was visiting, so it was absolutely possible to spend the whole day collecting chestnuts and making chestnut animals or walking down to the stream to catch tadpoles and that sort of thing. I think it is that sensation we are trying to replicate and celebrate in Anthony and Grandma.
