Synopsis
This poetry collection opens poetry for children by fabulating both gruesomly, funnily and quietly.
What does a ghost's earwax taste like?
Where can you bowl with a skull?
Who invented the umbrella for spiders?
And what is the poem actually thinking about as you read it?
Bone Bowling is a quirky and fabulating poetry collection for children about all the weird and spooky things that are typically associated with Halloween.
Beautifully illustrated by Mette Marcussen and supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
Winner of the Danish Cultural Ministry's 2024 Children's Book Writer of the Year Award, and nominated for the Children's Book Illustrator of the Year Award.
Part of the White Raven Library 2025
Reviews
"It’s all quite creepy, but at the same time ever so over-thetop that it is all actually funny – especially through the interplay of text and illustration. »Knoglebowling« is Halloween and Día de los Muertos in book form, more grotesque and playful than frightening." – (The White Ravens 2025, Internationale Jugendbibliothek)
"Digtsamlingen åbner poesien for børn ved at fabulere både grusomt, sjovt og stilfærdigt. Sproget er stilfuldt og sikkert, tydeligt og klart. Det har liv og vid, mens det samtidig er legende let ... en ekstraordinær læseoplevelse." – (The Cultural Ministry's Author Prize 2024, the motivation by the jury)
