Synopsis
Bror is a sensitive and somewhat cautious boy with a favorite toe, a vivid imagination, and a great many thoughts about life, popcorn, and the world around him. Not least about the older sister Bror never got to know, because she died before he was born.
One day, Bolette moves into the house next door, and when she also starts in Bror’s class, a friendship develops between the two that slowly teaches Bror to open up to life and take his place in the world - even when it confronts him with difficult choices, such as whether to join Bolette and her family on a canoe trip.
Be warned: Bror is a boy who walks straight into your heart and stays there.

Personal note from the author
I do not like to think of Bror as introverted at first and then more extroverted later - just as I have carefully avoided thinking in terms of diagnoses. That kind of linear, schematic thinking does nothing good for children (or people in general). Bror is completely ordinary, and he develops because he is met and truly seen by people who describe him as curious and his observations as sharp.
