Synopsis
The Last Viking is the story of the chieftain's son Baldur, who loses one of his arms during an attack on the village. In order to make Baldur happy again, the Great Chieftain orders that the entire village's population must have one of their arms cut off, because when Baldur's reality cannot be changed, the reality around him must change instead.
But the pursuit of equal happiness can be a fateful endeavor, and the consequences can be fatal.
The book is the extended retelling of the story that frames Anders Thomas Jensen's black comedy of the same name. The book is written by Anders Thomas Jensen's character Werner De König, with illustrations by A. Film
Personal note from the author
The editor says:
The book provokes a lot of thought in the reader in the best possible way. It is not a story that tries to provide any concrete answers, it is much more interested in asking the questions,” says Alexander Grevy.
Then we have to try to figure out for ourselves what the idea of it all is. I see it as a kind of parable for some very interesting and eternally relevant issues – but without a preachy or exaggerated moralizing element.
