Synopsis

The first instalment in Carlsen's new entertaining middle-grade series, about Rasmus who loves fantasy and never had a real friend. He has never really felt that he belonged anywhere, but that changes in a split second when Xander moves to town and becomes his class mate. For the first time in his life, Rasmus feels what it is like to have a real friend.

However, not long after the boys have met, strange things start to happen around them and when they go away on a school outing to the woods, the boys are attacked by a gruesome cat-like monster, which forces them into an overwhelming magic world, full of adventure, secrets and true evil.

The book was chosen as a World Book Day 2021 promotion by Carlsen and the trilogy has sold nearly 15000 copies.

Winner of the Orla Book Prize 2021 (the children's own literature prize).
