Synopsis

It's carnival time and Momo is scouting for a fancy dress costume. The shop is full of super heroes. Knights. Robots, Astronauts.

Dad gets excited about a flying dinosaur with wings you can move up and down. But Momo does not see it at all. He only has eyes for the stunning, sparkling bird costume with the bluish-green plumage.

Peacock is a poetic tale about the importance of being seen and met as the person you are.

Included in White Raven 2023.

Personal note from the author

Peacock is a book about identity, gender stereotypes, adult expectations, but most of all it is a book about being who you are and being seen and met in this way. I hope children who read the book will experience it as a story about finding yourself and daring to stand up for who you are, even when others might expect something different from you. And I hope that adults reading the book will experience it as a story about the importance of seeing and acknowledging children as they are, and not as we assume they are or wish them to be.
