Synopsis
A mad scientist, haunted by the loss of his wife and child, creates a Frankenstein’s monster-like creature, which he names Stine. When the unhappy scientist commits suicide, Stine is left all alone in a world, where not everyone is open towards those who are different. We follow Stine in their search for a place where they belong. Will they find a friend who accepts them for who they are?
“B-b… but are you a boy or a girl?”
“Maybe I am neither. Maybe I am just … me!”
Personal note from the author
Lars Kramhøft:
“I’ve attempted to write a funny, exciting and slightly spooky story with its roots firmly planted in the sci-fi and horror tradition, with a Frankenstein’s monster, black magic and demons, but which at the same time looks at our world today, where gender and identity are being defined in new ways.”
Jam Aden:
“It is no secret that I am transsexual. LGBT+ characters play a significant part in my stories, even if gender is not necessarily a main theme. When Lars first pitched the idea of Frankenstine to me, Stine was a girl who wanted to break the gender norms, but we quickly agreed to take it one step further and made them non-binary. I have used many of my own experiences when Lars and I have discussed Stine’s emotions and people’s reactions, and I hope the authenticity shines through.”
