Thomas Knappe (b. 1978) won the 2014 Ping Award for his comic book debut, Dreams in Thin Air, which was translated into four languages.
He is a graduate from Seriehögskolan in Malmø, Sweden, and has illustrated several children's books, apart from writing his own graphic novels. How would You Catch a Monster? is his debut as a children's book writer.
