Sara Ejersbo

Award-winning Danish author behind a fresh modern detective series for children.

Sara Ejersbo (b. 1980) studied Comparative Literature and attended the Copenhagen Writers' School for Children's Literature. She made her debut in 2012 with The Zombie Cat and has since published almost 60 books for children and adults.

She says about her writing:

‘I usually always work within well-defined genres, whether I'm writing for children or adults. I think it gives me extra drive and energy to have that special contract with the reader about what they can expect. It's an exciting engine to give the reader what they expect and at the same time do it in a way they didn't see coming, so they are still surprised. Working in that field is probably what motivates me the most.’

Sara Ejersbo has been nominated for a number of awards, including the Bogsluger Prize, the Writing Prize and twice for the Orla Prize. She has also been nominated twice for a Mofibo Award in the ‘Best Romance’ category for her adult novels.

She lives in Copenhagen with her husband and two children. The household also includes two chickens and a horse, although the latter does not live on the property.
