Kristina Aamand
Kristina Aamand was shortlisted for the Deutscher Jugendbuchpreis in the category Preis der JugendJury in 2019. Her novel If Words were my Weapon is translated into German and Swedish.
Kristina Aamand (1972) is a nurse and social worker by profession, but made her debut as a writer in 2007 and has written full time since 2014. She worked for a number of years at Centre for Rape at the biggest hospital in Copenhagen and has had her own online Q&A about virginity. Her mixed cultural background – with a Danish Catholic mother and a Palestinian father of Syrian origin – and her experiences with culture clashes play a big part in her writing. She lives outside Copenhagen with her husband, Martin, and their patchwork family.
