Who is Anne-Mette Kærulff Lorentzen?:
"I am a grown-up with a long life behind me. Grandmother and architect. And now also comic book artist. On top of that I am a ”homo with delay”. I only came to terms with my sexuality when I was around 40 years old and after having been secretly in love with women most of my adolescence. I am also an activist in the LGBT world. I feel great solidarity with homosexuals in Denmark and around the world; their battle against the outside pressure, but also against their own internalised shame. Shame is one of the biggest challenges for many homosexuals; the feeling that you are abnormal. And shame is one of the defining ingredients in my graphic novel."
Anne-Mette Kærulf Lorentzen is an architect and LGBTQ+ activist living in Denmark. She is part of the NGO Female Oxygen, which supports women in countries where LGBTQ+ rights are threatened.
