Synopsis
The diabetic girl, Alma, forgets her medication and suffers an insulin shock, after which she finds herself inexplicably in another time: 19th Century Denmark where she realises what real poverty and suffering is like. Quite soon after, Alma is back in her own time, and it is not always so cool. She has lost her father when she was small and her mum continues to mourn his loss. They have just moved to a new town and Alma feels alone, until she becomes friends with Freya.
She once again gets an insulin shock and this time she travels to 1988 (and is appalled by the fashion of the time). She lives in an orphanage and meets one of the employees there, a man of the same name as her father and with the same birthday in 1971. But how did he die – and how was his life back then.
Always Alma #1 is the first book in a trilogy about the brave Alma whose diabetes sends her on dream trips to the past. The next two volumes are expected in the spring and autumn of 2023.
