Synopsis
After Copenhagen is a stunning graphic novel, inspired by Victorian botanical drawings that in one drawing showed the life of a plant from seed to decay. Here, however, the plants are replaced by buildings.
The iconic buildings of Copenhagen are in ruins after the country has been hit by an environmental catastrophe and nature is out of control. The protagonist is a young man who lives outside the city and sets out to find his friend, who went into the city in search for answers … or an escape.
Reviews
"The dizzyingly beautiful graphic poem caringly reduces Copenhagen to ruins (…) Overwhelmingly beautiful and graphically succinct in its execution (…) To read After Copenhagen is to be constantly torn between the urge to read on and to tear out the pages and put them on the wall." – (Weekendavisen)
"Luxuriant" – (Information)
"The drawings keep the reader’s eyes peeled (…) Christian Skovgaard’s compositions are extremely ambitious and he executes them with a steady hand." – (Politiken (five hearts))
"Christian Skovgaard has drawn a poem in an exceptional elegant artwork style (…) It is a wild ride and a book that entices and seduces in all its grandeur." – (Number 9)
